EXPORTING DIGITALLY: THE NEW BOOK IS ONLINE

EIGHT DIGITAL TOOLS FOR SMEs

8 Digital Tools for SMEs: A Manual for Improving Export Strategies, published by EGEA as part of the new Bookmark series, is now available through the main online bookstores: Amazon, Feltrinelli, etc. The book was co-written by myself and my colleague Claudia Zarabara.

No company, regardless of how small, can ignore the use of digital tools for the advertising and selling of its products. However, the relationship between SMEs and digitization is not obvious. There is a tendency to limit the scope of digital potential to large companies only. This is a misunderstanding! It is essential that SMEs also equip themselves with these means, to build communication, marketing and sales strategies. Both locally and, even more so, to boost exports.

Using simple and concise language (79 pages), we have tried to help SMEs navigate the world of digital tools that is so much talked about today.

THE INDEX OF THE BOOK

These are the 8 digital tools we have explored:

  • E-commerce
  • LinkedIn
  • Video calls, virtual trade fairs and their orbits
  • The Blog
  • The SEO
  • The CRM
  • Analytics tools
  • Online advertising.

For each of these topics – after explaining what they are about – we give practical indications on how to best use them.

DIGITAL, A CONSTRUCTION SITE THAT’S ALWAYS OPEN

Digital tools to support exports are always an open building site. Let’s just think of ChatGPT with which we “play” today but which is already another digital tool available to SMEs. For example, to produce content and feed a blog (and also to translate this content into the languages of our target markets).

Since 2020 many things have changed. Starting with trade fairs which – unfortunately – have not yet resumed with the usual attendance numbers (by both exhibitors as well as visitors). Everything leads to the conclusion that it will be essential to increasingly combine digital tools with the traditional way of doing exports. And this represents an opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises because the related investments are often smaller!

8 Digital Tools for SMEs: A Manual for Improving Export Strategies, is our contribution to facilitate the adoption of these tools. SMEs, which are the backbone of our industrial system, must use their well-known adaptability to implement this change as well. Which, in many ways, is also of a cultural nature.

Happy reading!
